The Beijing Foreign Language Festival showcased in Beijing Chaoyang Park on Saturday and one highlight was the traditional Beijing culture show.
北京外语游园会于周六在北京朝阳公园举行，传统的北京文化展览是一大亮点。
The show included traditional arts and crafts such as Beijing embroidery, paper cutting, kite making, clay figure making and dough sculpture.
展览包括北京绣花、剪纸、风筝制作、泥塑制作和面团雕刻等传统艺术和工艺。
Beijing Porcelain was officially named a protected intangible cultural heritage in 2009, and was showcased at the festival. Beijing Porcelain originated from the Qing Dynasty more than 100 years ago.
北京瓷器在2009年正式命名为受保护的非物质文化遗产，并在节日上展出。北京瓷器起源于100多年前的清代。
The materials used are completely natural colors and to make them is a long process. Beijing Porcelain is handmade and has a sense of elegance and Beijing flavor.
瓷器所使用的材料是纯天然的颜色，瓷器制作是一个长期的过程。北京瓷器是手工制作的，富有优雅感和北京风味。
Intangible cultural heritages have deeper meanings, and Cui, a fourth generation paper-cutter, explained the complex meanings of the art. He said that if you look at the paper-cutting, you may see the character of happiness. The character, though, has four levels of meanings: one is happiness and harmony, metaphoric by the lotus and peony, the second is a happy couple, metaphoric by the lotus and lily, the third is health and long life, metaphoric by the magpie and peach, the final is joy and happiness, metaphoric by the lotus and plum blossom.

Han Lin, who has a keen interest in kites, said, "The first time I saw kites was when I was in primary school. Usually I graded badly in arts, but I received the highest mark with my kite. I think that flying kites has a feeling of freedom and good hopes for the future."
对风筝有浓厚兴趣的韩林说：“我第一次看到风筝是在小学的时候。通常我在艺术上的表现很差，但是我的风筝得分最高。我认为放风筝有一种自由感和对未来的美好希望。”
