Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with his Swiss counterpart Johann Schneider-Ammann at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The two leaders issued a joint statement, vowing to forge a creative stategic partnership between China and Switzerland.

Xi said mutual trust and effective communication lay the foundations for future China-Switzerland creative stategic partnership. He called for an enhanced communication mechanism and widened economic cooperation in renewable energy, modern agriculture, environmental protection and medical care under the framework of the China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement.
Schneider-Ammann said Switzerland will cooperate closer with China in all areas. He also said his country is willing to play a more constructive role in the China-initiated One Belt One Road Initiative and Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of a series of agreements covering occupational safety and health, low-carbon city construction and the technology industry.
