丝绸之路国际博览会西安开幕
首届丝绸之路国际博览会在古城西安开幕。
The first Silk Road International Exposition has opened in the ancient city of Xi’an, the capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. It’s an integral part of the 18th Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China. Countries along the ancient Silk Road have been invited to join the event. The Silk Road Expo aims to boost communication and cooperation in the region.
Over 50 countries and regions including some from Central Asia are showcasing themselves on the largest international stage ever provided at the trade forum.
Xi’an used to be the starting point of the old Silk Road. Today the city is making efforts to deepen communication with many Central Asian countries, as Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling to rebuild a modern Silk Road.

A representative from the Kazakhstan Dungan Association says they are not only working to promote economic and trade communication between Kazakhstan and China, but also help many Kazakh students study in China.
“Since 1998, we’ve helped thousands of Kazakh students come to China. And the city of Xi’an has more Kazakh students than any other place in China,”said Zhu Pu, representative of Xi'an Office, Kazakhstan Dungan Assoc..
This year’s investment and trade forum contains eight exposition halls with a total area of three hundred thousand square meters, three times that of last year. Local officials say over one hundred thousand merchants are expected to come.
