South Korean President Park Geun-hye has nominated a former Supreme Court justice to be her new prime minister. The move is aimed at regaining public confidence in the administration after the deadly sinking of the ferry Sewol.
The nominee, 59--year-old, Ahn Dai-hee, was named to replace Chung Hong-won. Chung offered to quit last month to take responsibility for the poor government response to the ferry disaster. Park said at the time she would accept the resignation after the crisis was brought under control. Ahn’s nomination is subject to parliamentary //confirm/i/iation.
