A theater showing 7D movies has opened in Taiyuan, the capital of North China’s Shanxi Province. It’s one of a nation-wide chain, whose 7D features are interactive, taking audiences beyond the magic of 3D.
It’s got all the features of 3D movies plus interactive operations and more. This 7D cinema is the first one to open in Shanxi Province. And many moviegoers are eager to see what it’s like.
"It’s my first time to experience a 7-D movie. I feel it’s quite exciting," a movie fan said.
"It’s my second time to come here. I like it very much, especially the part of riding a roller coaster," another movie fan said.
The physical effects of 7D movies include the moving seats, wind, lightning, rain, fog, smoke and even smells. Pictures of the audience during the movie are taken and printed.
As a matter of fact, this kind of 7D movie is more like an interactive game. Its most distinguishing feature is the engagement of the audience. You have to use this electric gun to shoot different targets during the whole process.
The novelty of the experience has the cinema manager optimistic about market prospects.
"Our headquarters are in Beijing, and we’ve already developed into a chain since July last year, with more than 500 cinemas across the country," said Li Wenxiang, general manager of Taiyuan Shen Lin Qi Jing 7D Cinema.
The cinema has only one screen and eight seats so far. Movies usually last about ten minutes. The manager says business has been on rise, with customer numbers up to more than a hundred during the weekends.
