A delegation of 20 people from Taiwan is visiting the mainland on Tuesday.
The delegation is led by Taiwan’s mainland affairs chief, Wang Yu-chi. He will meet with the chief of Mainland’s Taiwan Affairs Office, Zhang Zhijun Tuesday afternoon. Their talks are aimed at developing cross-strait relations and deepening mutual political trust. This will be the first formal meeting between heads of the two sides' cross-strait relations departments since 1949 when China’s civil war ended.
Wang will visit Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum in Nanjing and deliver a speech at Nanjing University. Shanghai will be his second stop. He will meet mainland experts on Taiwan issues, as well as visit Radio and Television Shanghai and a school for children of mainland-based Taiwan businesspeople.
