Chinese government provided one million US dollars in emergency humanitarian aid to Sierra Leone on Wednesday, whose capital suffered heavy floods and mud-rock flows, causing more than 300 people killed and over 2,000 people displaced two days before.
The President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma acknowledged Chinese government as well as the local citizens' condolences for their emergency assistance. He said he was moved by the Chinese enterprises bringing large-scale machinery for rescuing on the scenes, and the hard work of Chinese medical workers saving the injured Sierra Leoneans. The funds will play an important role in disaster relief, he said.
