China's capital city Beijing has finally gotten the winter's first snowfall. The city went a historic 107 days without precipitation. The snowfall started at one a.m. Beijing time on Friday in the city's southwest suburbs and then expanded to other parts of the city.
Daxing District in south Beijing experienced the highest snowfall, reaching nearly three millimetres. Beijing weather authorities say the snowfall will last the whole day Friday.The snowfall comes on the first working day after the week-long Spring Festival Holiday, and poses challenges to the city's transportation systems. The public has been reminded to remain cautious, as icy roads can be dangerous.
