四川茂县山体垮塌 40余户100余人被掩埋

A landslide that occurred in Southwest China's Sichuan province on Saturday morning smashed some 40 homes, where about 100 people are feared to be buried, according to sources with the authorities in Maoxian county.

据茂县当局消息，周六上午，四川西南部发生山体塌陷，约40户家庭被毁，恐约100人被埋。

Theaccident occured as a reult to heavy rainfall at around 6 am onJune 24at Xinmo villagein Maoxian county of AbaTibetan automonous prefecure, blocking a two kilometers of a river course.

事故原因是6月24日凌晨6点左右阿坝藏族自治州茂县强降雨导致河道堵塞2公里。

Localgoverment haslaunched a level I geological disaster and emergency response.

当地政府已经启动Ⅰ级地质灾害应急响应。

A rescue operation is underway.
