China’s two annual national legislative sessions kicked off last Friday. Among the attendees of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the National People’s Congress (NPC), the female representatives in particular drew a lot of attention, given the proximity of International Women’s Day on Wednesday.
中国一年一度的两会开始于上周五。鉴于本周三的国际妇女节即将临近，全国政协委员会和人民代表大会的出席者中，女性代表吸引了大量的眼球。
China has a national policy encouraging women to participate in politics and discuss policies. Local governments have been told to pay particular attention to promoting female policymakers and civil servants, and encourage them to bring up important issues.
中国历来有鼓励女性参与政治与政策讨论的国策。地方政府被告知要特别重视提升女性决策者和公务员，并鼓励她们提出重要的观点和议题。
Every year, female representatives at the two sessions help address issues facing the country by giving their unique point of view. For example, this year, there will be discussions about protecting girls from sexual harassment, ensuring rural women get equal access to education and providing mothers with adequate childcare resources.
每一年的两会上，女人大代表都会通过她们独特的观点解决国家所面临的具体问题。例如，今年将会讨论如何保护女童免受性骚扰；讨论农村女性如何获得公平的教育机会以及如何为母亲们提供足够的保育和托管资源。
