(CNN)A Taiwan warship mistakenly launched a supersonic "aircraft carrier killer" missile toward China Friday, hitting a fishing boat and killing the boat’s captain in an incident China called "a serious matter."
(CNN) 7月1日，台湾海军对大陆方向误射了一枚最新锐的雄风三型超音速反舰导弹，击中了一艘渔船，造成船长死亡，中方称导弹误射是“非常严重的事情”。
A spokesman for Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense apologized on behalf of the military.
台湾防务主管部门发言人代表军方道歉。
"The Ministry of National Defense sincerely apologizes for the incident that caused the death of the captain (of the boat) and injured other crew members," Maj. Gen. Chen Chung-Chi said in a news conference. The ministry has also asked the Navy to provide assistance and compensation to the family of the victims.
台防务部门少将陈忠吉在新闻发布会上说，“对于不幸身亡的船长及受伤的船员，我们表示十二万分的歉意”，并要求台湾海军全力做好慰问家属及协助后续补偿等。
The deceased captain has been identified as Huang Wen-Chung, the defense ministry //confirm/i/ied, according to Taiwan Focus, the English-language service of state-run Central News Agency.
据台湾官方媒体“中央社”的英文服务“Taiwan Focus”报道，防务部已证实，船长身份确认为黄文中。
Chung-Chi said the missile, the "Hsiung Feng III," ripped through the fishing boat but did not explode.
陈忠吉称，“雄风三型”反舰导弹造成渔船中间被贯穿，但未发生爆炸。
An investigation into the incident has begun, Chung-Chi added.
他补充说，已经对事件展开了调查。
China’s top official in charge of Taiwan policy, Zhang Zhijun, said Friday that Taiwan must provide a "responsible explanation" for the launch of the missile, calling it a "serious matter."
大陆国台办主任张志军7月1日表示，导弹误射是“非常严重的事情”，台湾方面必须要有“负责任的说法”。
Relations between Taiwan -- officially the Republic of China -- and the People’s Republic of China have been increasingly tense since the landslide election of Tsai Ing-wen, whose party has traditionally leaned in favor of formal independence from China.
