A powerful explosion has rocked the Afghan capital Kabul during Sunday morning's rush hour. No casualties were immediately reported. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A Kabul police spokesman says the explosion occurred in the Joy Shir area of downtown Kabul.A suicide bomber targeted a NATO convoy for this attack.
Security officials cordoned off the area shortly after the blast. A NATO spokesman in Kabul confirmed their convoy came under attack, but said the international coalition was still gathering further information. The attack comes just days after the resurgent militant group overran a key northern city.
